ABOUT LSCD

A Creative Home for Laredo Dancers Since 2011

We combine disciplined, curriculum-based dance training with the encouragement students need to become stronger artists, confident people, and active members of their community.

Our Story

Built for Dancers Who Want to Grow

The Laredo School of Contemporary Dance opened in August 2011 as a resource for dancers in Laredo and the surrounding region. From the beginning, the goal was clear: create a learning environment where students could receive serious technical instruction while keeping the creativity, belonging, and joy that draw people to dance.

Over the years, LSCD has grown into a multi-studio training home serving children, teens, and adults. Students can begin with foundational classes, explore different styles, perform onstage, join an audition-based company, prepare for college or professional training, and stay connected to dance for life.

Our Mission

High-Quality Training. Whole-Person Growth.

Our mission is to provide students of all ages with high-quality dance education in a creative, structured environment. We help dancers build technique, artistry, discipline, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for movement and the arts.

What we believe

Students deserve teachers with substantial experience as performers, educators, and choreographers.

Curriculum-based instruction creates safer, more consistent technical growth.

Early exposure to dance can build coordination, confidence, creativity, and joy.

Dance supports the whole person - physically, mentally, artistically, and socially.

Knowledge of dance history and an appreciation for many forms of dance make stronger artists.

Self-discipline, dedication, and constructive feedback help students develop body awareness, resilience, self-esteem, and fitness.

What makes LSCD different

A real learning progression

Our classes are organized by age, experience, and technical readiness. Students build skills in sequence and receive guidance on the right next level.

Breadth without losing depth

Dancers can study ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, tumbling, conditioning, and other movement disciplines while developing a strong technical base.

Training that can grow with the dancer

A student can begin recreationally and, when the desire and readiness are there, move into advanced or pre-professional opportunities.

Connection to the wider dance world

Guest choreographers, master teachers, conventions, competitions, performances, and intensives expose students to new ideas and professional standards.

The experience we want for every student

We want every dancer to feel challenged, supported, and seen. Progress will look different from student to student, but the habits behind progress are consistent: show up, listen, practice, take feedback, encourage others, and keep growing.

Those habits matter onstage. They matter even more in school, work, relationships, and life.

Come See What LSCD Feels Like

The best way to understand our school is to step inside a class. New students are invited to try a class free, meet an instructor, and get a recommendation based on age, experience, and goals.
